I sometimes casually watch a movie or catch a sporting event while working in my shop. A few years ago I got caught up in this movie that was taking place in the 1940's in the South East. So much so, that I stopped working on what ever car it was and sat down and became fully involved in this movie. I believe at one point I locked the door to the shop because it was so good I did not want to be interrupted. By the end of the movie I knew it was a movie that my girls saw years before I watched (and told me to watch) due to them talking about it, the Notebook. Well, I had to come clean to my wife and girls that it was indeed an awesome movie.

So, here is where I am going with this. Sometimes in the busy moments of our lives we may be surprised by an event that catches our attention and causes us to stop or slow down and enjoy the story that is unfolding in front of our face. Events like a good movie or book, your children's first steps, the explosion of life in the spring and the courtship in the fall. But, what if we make a habit and find a time and place where we can be still. Yep, a habit that breathes life into us, gives us balance, a new perspective and enriches the story of our lives as folks watch our pages turn. The Psalmist wrote in chapter 46 verse 10, "To be still and know that I am God!" If you take time and read Psalm 46 and 47 you will see then, as is now, "The nations are in chaos, and the kingdoms crumble!" (Ps. 46:6)  And to put life back into perspective we should, as the Lord tells us to, "Be still, and know that I am God".
