“I love it when a plan comes together!” That was the catchphrase that Coronel Hannibal Smith used every time an episode of “The A-Team” ended. Every episode would start with a situation that would seem impossible to resolve for the team. But every step of the way, their fearless leader, Coronel Smith (played by George Peppard) would tell them he had a plan. And, every time, as they emerged triumphant, he would repeat his famous catchphrase.
Last Sunday, Pastor Ken spoke about sticking to God’s plan. Planning anything is so important in life! We plan and plan for a lot of things: our school, our career, our jobs all the way to retirement. I even got really mad two weeks ago when one of the local funeral homes sent me a mailer asking me if I was planning for my death! How did they dare!!!!
The crucial aspect of a plan is if it is a good or a bad one. A plan depends on many things but most importantly on who makes the plan. You see, the success of the A-Team depended on their leader, who was a great tactician who knew everything there was to know about the circumstances, the details and the particulars of the operation. As he took all those details into consideration, he was able to come up with a successful plan. A plan is as good as the one who puts it together. All the team had to do was to trust in their leader and stick to the plan.
Going back to Pastor Ken’s message when he told us to stick to the plan, we need to understand who has drafted the plan for our lives. It couldn’t be anyone better!
According to Zechariah 12:1, He is the one “who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit.” David further tells us in Psalm 103: 11-12 that “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
This should encourage us to trust our leader and the plan He has laid out for our lives. He is the creator of the Universe, He is the one who commands nature, He is the one who has the power to create life! And He is also our father who loves us so much that He gave His only son so we can have a relationship with Him. We couldn’t ask for a better leader. He has a plan for us. Shouldn’t you stick to it?
